Reverend Doctor Eric B. Smith

Reverend Doctor Eric B. Smith is the Pastor of The Adoni Spiritual Formation Center in
New Haven, CT. He has also served as the Pastor of Community Baptist Church in New
Haven, CT from 1997 to 2004. As a Pastor, Dr. Smith emphasizes a spirituality that
leads to involvement, not only in the church, but also in one’s community.
Dr. Smith is the President of Interfaith Cooperative Ministries, a coalition of faith
communities throughout Greater New Haven working on issues related to social justice.
Dr. Smith established and served as President of the New Haven Reparations Coalition
in 2001. Dr. Smith has also served with New Haven Fighting Back to fight substance
abuse, the Newhallville Neighborhood Management Team to set the direction of the
Newhallville neighborhood in New Haven, on the Board of Directors of the Greater New
Haven Community Loan Fund to develop low-income housing, and in a host of other
community-based organizations. Dr. Smith also created the Community Baptist
Development Corporation, which emphasized youth development in New Haven from
1998 to 2004, and the Nannie Helen Burroughs School in New Haven, that provided
affordable after-school and summer programs for children from 2000 to 2004. Dr. Smith
also served as a Lecturer in Homiletics at Yale Divinity School.
Before entering ministry, Dr. Smith worked at Cigna Corporation in Bloomfield, CT,
Aetna Life & Casualty in Hartford, CT, and Command Systems in Farmington, CT. Dr.
Smith has a BSBA in Computer Information Systems from Western New England College
in Springfield, MA, a certificate from the Black Ministries Certificate Program from Hartford
Seminary in Hartford, CT, a Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School in New
Haven, CT, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Hartford Seminary.
Dr. Smith is married to Reverend Pamela Smith and is the father of three children:
Chandler, Jeremiah, and Jasmine.
