2004
JULY 9:JULY 9:
JULY 11: The first Sunday morning Worship Service was held at 10:00 a. m. in the
Temple Room of the Omni Hotel. There we were introduced to the newly formed ‘United
Voices of Adoni’ directed by Ms. Veronica Whittaby.
SEPTEMBER 18: Adoni’s first ‘Leadership Seminar’ was held in the York Room of the
Omni Hotel. The seminar was led by The Rev.Eric Smith and the agenda covered;
discipleship, review of the early books of the Bible, tithing, and the qualities necessary for
leadership. Lunch was served. Twenty-one disciples attended the seminar.
SEPTEMBER 19: At a ceremony held at 3:30 p. m., four new disciples of Adoni were
baptized by The Rev. Eric Smith at Friendship Baptist Church in Hamden, CT. The four
people who were baptized were: Jeffrey Dobbs, Leslie Farrior, Anita Moore, and Nicole
Tyson.
NOVEMBER 1: The first Spiritual Formation Groups started meeting. All disciples of
Adoni are encouraged to be part of a group.
DECEMBER 19: At the 10:00 a. m. Worship Service, Dr. Ian Markham, the Dean of
Hartford Seminary, conferred to The Rev. Eric B. Smith his Doctor of Ministry degree.
2005
MARCH 12: The web site of the Adoni Spiritual Formation Center was up and running.
JULY 10: Adoni’s 1st Annual Celebration was held at the Savin Rock Conference Center
in West Haven. Approximately 140 people attended.
AUGUST 28: During the 10:00 a. m. Worship Service, Adoni’s 1st Baby Dedication was
held. Justin Eric Hines, the son of Erica Sherman and Peter Hines, was dedicated.
OCTOBER: Praise and Worship was added to the beginning of the Sunday morning
Worship Service.
DECEMBER 18: Adoni’s 1st Annual Holiday Luncheon was held at the Omni Hotel.
Approximately 55 people attended the luncheon.
2006
January 1: Robert Blocker, the Chairperson of the newly formed Men’s Ministry
announced the name of the ministry: The Mighty Men of Adoni.
January 11: The 1st session of the Adoni Bible Institute was held at the Christian
Training and Healing Center, 135 Bristol Street. The Biblical Concept of the Church is the
1st class to be taught within the institute. 18 students registered for the course.
February 6: The ability to listen to the prior week’s sermon was added to the web site.
June 11: A group of 11 students in the Adoni Bible Institute received certificates for
completing the first course taught in the institute. To receive a certificate, students had to
pass a final exam. The following are the students who were awarded certificates:
Robert Blocker, Willie Burroughs, Jacqueline Garcia, Mitchell Garcia, Connie Jones,
James Mason, Tara Pittman, Carrie Schaffer-Mason, Robert Thorne Jr., Vilandria Turner,
Eleanor White
December: The Adoni Spiritual Formation Center was reorganized in order to have our
structure align with our mission.

January 28: Robert Blocker preached his initial sermon and was the first person
licensed to preach at Adoni.
